N.E.W.S.T.A.R.T

The N.E.W.S.T.A.R.T program consists eight (8) of God’s health laws which feature: Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunshine, Temperance, Air, Rest, and Trust in God. All the law emphasizes the natural remedies selected by God to offer the best results given that the human body is a temple given to us by God, it is important to protect and preserve each part to our fullest potential.

Nutrition

God's original plan for man’s diet is found in Genesis 1:29 “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you, it shall be for meat.” Grains, fruits, vegetables, and nuts were selected by our Creator to provide the body with nourishment. Also simple and natural preparation of these foods is the most healthful.

Exercise

Moderate daily exercise and movement of the body will prove beneficial to a person physically all mentally. Exercise is known to clear the mind and offer a break from mental chatter that often burdens people. Exercise such as; daily nature walks in open-air can increase vitality and strengthen the lungs. Brief walks after meals are also recommended to aid digestion and increase blood flow to the organs in the body.

Water

Room temperature water is the best option for drinking water; avoid adding sweeteners and flavors to water; water in its purest form is far more beneficial to the body. Drinking the recommended 6-8 glasses of water is also helpful for blood circulation and prevents dehydration. Avoid using other beverages to quench thirst like; fruit juices, soda, alcohol, milk, or tea.

Sunlight

Exposure to sunlight boost the mood through the brain's release of the hormone: serotonin which may decrease episodes of depression and fatigue. Regular sunlight exposure can increase vitamin D production in the body which; regulates the absorption of calcium and phosphorous in the bones and also normalize the functions of the immune system. Moderation and caution should always be practiced when exposing the skin to sunlight however; sunlight can help treat many skin conditions such as jaundice, eczema, and psoriasis.

Temperance (Abstemiousness)

Defined as voluntary self-restraint, it is good to offer the body and mind rest from overindulging in the same activity. Abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, overeating, and sugar overload can aid the body by regularizing the immune system and improving blood circulation. Moderation in physical work, social media, and media can allow the mind rest for self-reflection and quiet meditation with God.

Air

Pure air has several benefits for the body; if you live in an urban well-populated area, it is best to consider trips to hilly, remote areas that have lots of trees, vegetation to enjoy nature. Visit into nature will give the lungs a break from air pollution and allow you to breathe deeply at total lung capacity. Sitting can mean shallow breathing, and inhaling at the top of the lungs while walking/running outside fills the lungs with fresh air, improves brain function, promotes serotonin in the blood that may improve the mood also improves cell functions in the body.

Rest

Getting ample rest is vital for one’s mental and physical health. A person can experience health by getting more rest, especially at night when the environment is quiet also; sleep in a dark room is also the best option for a restful sleep; this allows the brain a chance to recharge. Ample rest will improve the organs in the body, promote mental health, offer stress reduction, mood improvement, boost creativity and increase our productivity.

Trust in God

Daily communion with the creator; God will increase your faith. When you spend time reading the scriptures it allow spiritual growth and strengthen our reliance on God through faith for matters that cause us to worry that are actually out of our control. Learn to cast your burdens at the Saviour's feet which allow peace, happiness, and encouragement because the brain is less taxed from stress and is able to focus on the present. Daily prayer and communication with God gives us assurance of God’s peace, love and grace.
